BENEFITS

Fans on refrigeration systems can use a lot of power. This is especially problematic in evaporator fans, where the excess power adds heat to the refrigerated environment, adding load to the compressor, which increases energy consumption further. With the current energy prices and regulations it is critical to make fan motors as efficient as possible. That’s why Unada’s EC motors maintain high efficiency – up to 70% – over a very wide range of loads. Compared to the typical shaded-pole motor's 20% efficiency. Unada’s EC motors use less than 1/3 the power compared to shaded-pole motors combined with the reduced heat load in the cold space. Glass door merchandisers using plug-in systems can cut electricity consumption by as much as 30% by switching to Unada’s EC motor.

Unada’s EC motors last longer than shaded-pole motors because they run cooler and have better starting torque. UC motors include several reliability-enhancing features:

  • Safeguards against sustained under and over voltage;
  • Multiple redundant protections against water on the cable and shaft entry;
  • Corrosion-proof plastic housings
    Intelligent thermal protection reduces motor power during overloads to maintain airflow to the refrigeration system;
  • Soft starting to reduce transient loads and noise.
UC motors, like Unada, are customisable to the core. Multiple mounting options and custom harness solutions adapt the motors to your system. Motor speeds can be set to wide ranges, and are factory or field programmable. Global voltage reduces inventory. Fewer motor part numbers can cover all of your needs.

With the most advanced electronic control in its class UC is particularly suited to applications where both noise reduction and efficiency are critical. UC maintains its high efficiency and low noise characteristics across
the full range of power and speed.

Unada’s unique third-wire design allows motor programming in or out of the cooler, variable speed control, and programmable reversibility and three-speed operation all in a single motor version. Simply by connecting the third (black) wire to a switched phase output, such as the compressor switch or smart controller, you can add a second speed, direction change, or programmed behavior such as delayed start/stop, all without extra connections or opening a programming hatch.

The UC motor is an energy-efficient, unit bearing style ECM motor built to withstand harsh commercial refrigeration environments and cleaning practices. The motor’s innovative design locks out dust, withstands high pressures, giving it a remarkable IP66 rating. UC motors are ideal to withstand harsh commercial refrigeration environments.

UC motors have flexible mounting options and allow for custom harness solutions. It can adapt to your refrigeration and ventilation systems as a drop-in replacement.

UC+ motors are can be used with most axial fans from 154 to 254 millimeters (6 to 10 inches) and for tangential fans up to 300 millimeters. Long-shaft versions are available for agitator applications.
